When you know your style, filling your home with artwork is pretty easy until you reach the living room or what I like to call the neutral zone. My man thought we had plenty of feminine images and needed balance. Well, I couldn’t pass up this next piece. And her home? Prominently placed in the living room.
As I’ve said in previous posts, artwork must grab me or evoke a feeling. I gasp, or my stomach flips. Yes, I gasp!
Atlanta native and contemporary artist, Andre Simmons, presented “Sensations,” and I definitely gasped!
"Sensations" is 18x24, acrylic on canvas, with sweeping strokes of orange, red, black and a hint of green. Her beauty is so vibrant that you can’t see her clearly. Her image seems to be vibrating. Almost as if you are not allowed to see her. You’re not worthy to see her.
With a slight head tilt and eyes closed, the images depicted by Simmons clearly express the experience, the thought or feeling in their given titles. See his 2021 paintings.
It's amazing to think that Simmons has been painting with acrylic for two years. He was a sketch artist previously. Recently, he has thrown in some pieces that are surely inspired by Picasso.
His bio reads, "...evolution into painting to create art after having explored several other forms of art, allowed him to think further outside of the box when it comes to creativity."
"Sensations" isn't the last image you will see by Simmons on this blog. I'm truly taken by his work.
This self-taught artist's star is definitely on the rise. Be sure to check out his IG profile.
